What does Mikado have to do with MAE?

If you take a look at our website, you will quickly find information on straightening small parts with diamaters from 6 to 42mm.

We are increasingly being approached by companies from the medical technology sector as well as precision parts for packaging, plastics technology or mold making, to what extent especially the lower limit value in particular is fixed.

So last year, we put the bundle of "Mikado" sticks on the table for our product development and testing department.

  • Workpiece diameter from Ø 3 - 8mm
  • Lengths from 80 - 750mm
  • Cycle times between 10 - 40sec depending on type
  • Machine autonomy of up to 8 hours

We were able to ensure machine autonomy with a tried and tested separating magazine from ATEC.

But how do you reduce the power limit by 50% in relation to the diameter?

Countless tests, different concepts for clamping (radial vs. axial) and measuring (tactile vs. optical) or even the transfer from the magazine to the straightening machine were tested intensively.

Even though we did not quite meet the previously set realization deadline, the result is impressive; during the pre-acceptance, we were able to transport, measure and straighten small series in the presence of our customer Gebrüder Eberhard GmbH & Co. KG in the desired cycle time without any disruptions. And because it went so well, the customer immediately took another batch out of the trunk: a 2.2 mm diameter. But once the setup was in place, they also ran through the machine perfectly.
