A new era in Egypt

“Beginning of a new era for the railroad system in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East”

With these words, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi commented on the major order for Siemens Mobility to build the rail network in 2022.

In addition to the rail network and signalling technology, Siemens supplies trains (from Krefeld) and locomotives, as well as depots for maintenance. A delegation from the end customer in Egypt and members of the project team from Austria recently visited us in Erkrath.

The RADS wheelset press was put through its paces. The customer had brought along a drive wheelset for this purpose, which was dismantled, assembled and checked for correctness of the press fit after an appropriate waiting period. Everything was fine. ?

The waiting times between the individual pressings were filled with the completion of acceptance lists and corresponding quality audits by the end customer. As Christian Busch reported last week, our process and product quality are excellent, so there were no surprises here either. ?
